61.5% of companies state that hybrid or mixed work will be implemented on a permanent basis in the future.
Likewise, 59.2% of companies consider that offering the possibility of working in mixed mode is a determining factor in attracting and retaining talent.
2020 was the year of quarantines and confinements that resulted in the boom of teleworking and distance learning. Since then, companies have not stopped looking for flexible and effective formulas to adjust their work dynamics to the evolution of the pandemic.
While the pandemic is not yet over, the hybrid mode of working is taking center stage. In this context, the experts of the human resources software Factorial explain, through a study, what is the impact of this modality of work in Spain and how to manage it in the companies.
One of the reasons for the emergence of hybrid work experience is to mitigate the disadvantages of generating the 100% remote performance model. While it is true that workers prove to be more efficient outside traditional work spaces, the aspect that suffers most is the social or human aspect.
Mixed work in figures
Without colleagues with whom to interact, the bonding function of being in a job is lost. And with this, the internal dynamics are damaged and therefore the culture of the company can also suffer strong alterations that are not always positive.
Another aspect that is also damaged with 100% remote work is the balance between work and personal life, which can lead to serious scenarios of work stress and burnout. Likewise, for the management of young talent, traditional forms of work are not in line with their way of life and work, so the hybrid model is a good possibility to integrate the different generations that make up the current productive fabric.
For its part, a study carried out by the multinational telecommunications company, Cisco Systems, shows very positive data that support the mixed work initiative:
- 58% of workers expect in the near future, to work from home less than eight hours a day.
- 98% report strong dissatisfaction with conducting video calls from home.
- 97% demand changes for safer work environments.
Impact of hybrid work in the country. Factorial Study
Factorial has managed to connect with more than 100 companies from different industries: from the health sector, to accounting, labor consulting and technology. From there, they have obtained significant data that support the trend that is already being felt. Hybrid work is indeed the prevailing modality today. Although the biggest challenges of mixed work are communication (59.2%) and legal issues (34.7%), the truth is that it is beneficial when it comes to employee engagement (70.4%) and time management (48%).
Main benefits of combining remote and face-to-face work
Regarding the advantages of using this employment methodology, a large majority of companies consider that offering the possibility of working in mixed mode is a determining factor in attracting and retaining talent (59.2%).
Hybrid work is an extra benefit for attracting/retaining talent
For this reason, 87.8% of the organizations (practically the totality of the sample) offer or at least contemplate the possibility of providing future candidates and employees with hybrid work as an extra benefit.
This is due not only to the current change of era, but also to the fact that when evaluating the Key HR Indicators, the positive changes reach 24.5%. This refers to medical leave and absenteeism, among others. Although the change is not significant, the overall impact is positive or neutral.
Obeying the prevailing logic that made teleworking the only possible strategy to keep companies operational in 2020, 51% of the organizations surveyed by Factorial argue that they have not made any changes in this regard.
As explained by the technology company, the changes that usually occur and open the way to the convergence of hybrid work are the implementation of hot desks (common desks) with 14.4% and the flexibility of working hours (32.7%).
Likewise, 61.5% of the companies surveyed say that hybrid or mixed work will be implemented on a permanent basis in the future. This compares with 23.1% who will do the same, only limited to certain areas/work teams.
Currently, the company, which already has a workforce of 257 employees, plans to double the number of teams in the coming months. In this way, Factorial, which already operates in new sectors such as construction, catering and industry, is revolutionizing Human Resources management by providing a complete tool that helps organizations with 360º management of the area.
Thanks to its expansion policy, the company, which already has thousands of clients in more than 60 countries, has been able to grow exponentially in Spain, France and, recently, Latin America. After the success of its recent entry into this market, with the opening of its new office in Mexico, and now with the support of Tiger Global Management and new contributions from other investors, Factorial plans to open offices in Brazil and the United States.
